Business Development Manager (East/South Africa)

As a Business Development Manager (based in Nairobi), you will be responsible for initiating commercial activities for the service, products and business for our (potential) corporate customers & retail business partners within the specified assignments to you. Both the embedding of existing services (8 countries in Africa) and the expansion into new countries and channels will be in good hands with you.

By creating a mutual and strategic win-win situation with your customers and business partners, you will contribute to a long-term profitable relationship. You are able to initiate, develop and maintain contacts with multiple companies at the tactical and strategic level, in line with the AgroCares commercial growth plans in the different markets. You will identify the best possible market and client approach focus for countries in Africa by identifying and engaging with all relevant stakeholders (large farmers, business partners, cooperatives, local government, fertilizer and seed industry, precision farming, and influencer involved) and evaluating commercial potential of the market and its clients. You will initiate, develop, plan and deploy an optimal market penetration plan. You will develop business partner programs to grow the recurring business. You will identify the best client solutions with the subscription business model we use. You are able to motivate, coach and manage your business partners together with our Chief Agronomist and the team in Africa. You will be responsible for reaching the sales targets that are set for Africa.

Your profile:

* Master/ Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Marketing or other related study,

* Within 5 - 10 years of working experience you have already acquired knowledge and hands-on experience in project planning, marketing & communications and agriculture technical related aspects,

* 5-7 years of proven successful business-to-business sales experience within the agricultural or related sector,

* Experience in working within partner networks and / or with putting innovative products and/or services on the market,

* Proven ability to work in intercultural teams, result driven, self-starter and entrepreneurial,

* Fluency in English and French. A third foreign language would be an asset,

* Excellent communication (both orally and in writing), reporting and IT skills,

* Ambitious, entrepreneurial, independent and a good team worker who will work hard with the team to make it a success,

* Willingness to travel on average 10-15 working days per month.
